Five Allergy Myths and One Fact

Allergy Myths and One Fact

Myth: Dry Climates are the Best for Allergies

Pollens and fungus or molds are found everywhere.  You can move away from one set of allergens, but unfortunately you will probably develop new sensitivities wherever you end up.

Myth: Beaches are the Best for Allergies

Since ragweed pollen can be found as far as 400 miles out to sea, if you live near a beach, you can still develop allergies.

Myth: Children Outgrow their Allergies

Most children do not outgrow their allergies.  They may see some improvement in symptoms, but, children with seasonal allergies are more likely to develop different sensitivities, such as food and fragrance sensitivities, as they get older.

Myth: I’ve never had any allergies, so I won’t get them as an adult

It is common for adults to develop allergies as they age.  Sometimes they are seasonal allergies and sometimes they are food sensitivities. Oftentimes they are a reoccurrence of childhood allergies that you thought you had outgrown.

Myth: Allergy Shots Cure Allergies

Immunotherapy, allergy shots and under-the-tongue medications, do not cure allergies.  They may reduce some allergy symptoms, but you also need to take them consistently, and often for years, before seeing significant results.

Fact: Holistic Allergy Treatments Work

Non-invasive holistic allergy treatments such as Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) are the perfect alternative to allergy shots. Resolution of your symptoms depends upon the number and severity of the allergies or sensitivities triggering your symptoms and how often the treatments are performed.  Significant results do not take years as they can with traditional allergy treatments. There are no shots, no pain, no pills, no homeopathy, no avoidance.  The treatments are gentle, effective, and safe enough for infants and seniors.
